It was recently her 60th birthday and it was my mission to make her dream of going on an airplane come true!
Occa’s birthday surprise started with the first flight out to Durban at 6am on Saturday morning. My Mom and I picked her up before the sun were even up and my dad drove us to airport. She had NO idea where we were going.
The look of excitement on her face when she realized we were headed for the airport is something I will remember for the rest of my life. We arrived in Durban, hopped in an Uber, and headed for our next surprise – uShaka Marine World. Occa’s favourite animal is a penguin and she’s never seen one in real life before.
A quick Wimpy breakfast to get the day going and we were ready for the penguin presentation Occa’s highlight of the day! Occa decided we would have sushi for lunch (yes, I introduced her to sushi, and she LOVES it. She also uses chopsticks better than anyone I know! Occa has never been to the beach or seen the seaside, but it was so windy we decided a picture on the promenade steps would do
A day full of so many firsts for Occa. Things that we take for granted on a daily basis. A day full of so many laughs and smiles and unforgettable memories made. I’m so grateful that I was able to make this experience possible and share this special day with her. I’m also so grateful to my mom, my dad and Tubby for helping me make this dream a reality. A day I will treasure for the rest of my life! #ImStaying
