In high school, Lana’s desire to cut hair led her to pursue a career in hairdressing. Armed with salon shears received as a birthday gift, she honed her skills, eventually earning national and international certifications. In 2014, at the age of 22, Lana took a bold leap, utilizing her last R2000 to open her own salon. Her entrepreneurial spirit thrived as she transitioned from mobile appointments to establishing a mini-salon at her home. The growth was rapid, with income doubling within the first month. Lana’s innovative approach of combining hair and makeup services proved a game-changer, propelling her to open her own studio in Pecanwood Golf Estate and Country Club after relocating in 2017.

The unforeseen challenges of 2020, with the onset of lockdowns, compelled Lana to embrace virtual connections. Initiating live video makeup tutorials on Facebook and introducing the “Beauty Box” marked a successful foray into online marketing. The digital landscape not only expanded her reach nationally but also garnered international attention. Embracing the digital era, Lana diversified her business, introducing “Oh My Blouse” for personalized style consultations and “The Atelier” as an educational space.

 As Lana celebrates a decade in business, she reflects on overcoming scepticism, emphasizing that with determination and support, any business can thrive. In navigating the current landscape, Lana observes a growing inclination toward self-improvement, particularly in challenging economic times. She anticipates that digital makeovers will play a pivotal role in sustaining the image industry. Despite saturation, she believes standing out is crucial for success. Lana’s daily routine reflects her commitment to balance family and business. Starting with early training and family prayer, her day seamlessly blends motherhood, studio management, client interactions, and digital makeover creations.

Her customer-centric approach emphasizes genuine connections, both with clients and her team. As a democratic leader, Lana fosters an open and honest environment, ensuring her team feels valued. Operating physically in the North West but virtually reaching diverse regions, Lana has found a harmonious balance for her family and business.
