Sungardens Hospice – Pretoria Mamelodi

We are specialists in palliative care, and treat patients holistically. This means that support is also provided to the patient’s support system.

Vision

Sungardens Hospice seeks to provide and promote quality Palliative Care for all people living with a life threatening illness within the Pretoria area.

We are specialists in palliative care and treat patients holistically. This means that support is also provided to the patient’s support system. The majority of our patients are home-bound patients, and are visited there by our experienced, palliative qualified nursing staff. This service is offered to communities in the Pretoria area (which includes Mamelodi).  As such our mission is to provide a professional program of comprehensive evidence based palliative care responding holistically to patients, families and communities facing life threatening illness.

Sungardens is a non-profit organization and generates funding from corporate donors, sponsorships, donations, fundraising activities and the operations of a charity shop.

As a Hospice, we recognise dying as a normal process and neither hastens or postpones death. We acknowledge grief as a normal response to loss and support the families during the bereavement period. Any patient (with their consent) with progressive, far advanced, incurable disease: Cancer, HIV/AIDS, end stage cardiac failure etc. can make use of our services. Sungardens will never turn away patients due to their inability to pay for our services.

Charity Shops

Their charity shop forms an essential part of our fundraising efforts. The income generated from the sales enables us to pay the salaries of those who provide professional care to our patients.

The shop is well known and attracts all types of customers, bargain hunters and  thrift dealers amongst others.

Donations are always welcomed with nothing too small or too big. Our  second hand clothing store and bookshop are legendary and produces many treasures.  Arts and crafts, material and other household goods are most welcome and sought after.  The white elephant section is very popular selling  cups, mugs, plates, vases, plastic ware, ornaments and cutlery.

Visit us during the following trading hours.  09:00 to 16:00 weekdays and 08:00 to 13:00 on weekends and Public Holidays.
