Pediatric Care Africa

The medical profession, as we all know, is a selfless field that often lacks the appreciation it deserves from those who can afford its services. Now, envision a group of individuals who provide these services free of charge, seeing it as a profound opportunity to serve humanity.

The Superhero Behind MPO (Pediatric Care Africa)

Pediatric Care Africa is a non-profit organization established by Dr. Andre Hatting, MD, Ph.D., DTM&H (Ret.). Dr. Hatting recognized the monumental challenge facing over 1.7 billion children worldwide who lack the resources to reach a state hospital for essential surgical assistance. Among his family and friends, Dr. Andre is hailed as the most passionate medical professional one can encounter. If you visit him, you must be prepared to leave everything behind in case of a disaster or a family in need, for he acts promptly and takes off like a superhero on a mission. What distinguishes him is his personal connection with each patient, as he knows them all by name.

His acquaintances describe him as a highly intelligent individual who conducts himself with the utmost ethical standards. He lives his dream by uniting his passion for medicine with his compassion for both the elderly and the young. He is regarded as a motivational leader and a master communicator. This down-to-earth man always goes the extra mile for humankind.

The Mission

Presently, Pediatric Care Africa ensures that approximately 400 children from all over Africa receive medical attention from a doctor or specialist each year. They provide necessary medication and perform surgeries when required. In the event of natural or man-made disasters, they respond immediately, offering professional assistance regardless of the challenges they face. They have generously donated various Pediatric awards to ease the process of receiving essential surgical aid. During winter months, Pediatric Care organizes vaccination programs in communities to prevent flu outbreaks. Mothers are provided with food and all necessary baby care products. When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, they distributed 132 tons of food to people experiencing food insecurity.

Outreaches and Collaborations

Dr. Andre Hatting, the founder of this NPO and the 2022 recipient of the KLCBT Philanthropy award, and his team of professionals have partnered with Dis-Chem Pharmacies. Together, they run various outreach programs aimed at improving the long-term health of children living in underprivileged areas. These children undergo examinations, diagnoses, and treatment by a dedicated team of volunteers, including doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitians, audiologists, and speech therapists. When necessary, children are referred to specialists for further treatment.
