Priscilla Olivier was born and raised in Jaraguá do Sul in Brazil. “In 2008 I got a random message on Facebook from a guy in South Africa asking me about Brazilian culture and we quickly realized we both had similar interests and a friendship began. Fast forward a year later and I came to SA to meet him. We knew right away this was something special and I fell madly in love with him. In 2010 I returned to SA and we got married. We have 2 beautiful boys together and although the first years were lonely without my Brazilian family, South Africa has become my home not only geographically but in my heart as well.”

What work did you do in Brazil and was it difficult to find work is SA?

I studied law and while I was studying I began teaching English as a second language to help support myself through my university years which made me realize my passion lied with teaching. Visa processing in SA is very time consuming and for the first 9 years I was not allowed to legally work which was incredibly hard given I was used to earning my own money.

Why lingerie?

I love lingerie. I think it is something that really makes a woman feel feminine and sensual. And I am a firm believer that intimacy is vital in a marriage. My goal with Sexy Curves is to empower women to accept their sensuality physically, mentally and emotionally.

Do you find South Africans to be more conservative if it comes to what to wear to bed or under their clothes?

It is hard to tell because it’s not something people really share about each other but I do think in general South Africans are more conservative as people seem a lot more self conscious about buying lingerie and similar goods at stores.

What advice can you give women that want to look attractive when they go to bed but their upbringing would frown upon it?

Own your curves. Love your body. Your partner loves you despite all the flaws you think you have and there is nothing wrong with being a feminine sensual being. Intimacy is part of every romantic relationship and keeping the fire alive is essential.

I have also created a blog about lingerie and posts with tips and romantic ideas that will be updated regularly. follow-my-curves.blogspot.com/

If someone wants to start an online business, is it more or less the same as another business or does the process differ?

As far as the start-up process is concerned social media and internet advertisement are vital in this day and age whether it’s an online or physical store. It is harder to get people to know about your online business since they won’t see your store at the mall for instance. Because of that your website needs to be easily found and incredibly user friendly, visually appealing and very descriptive so customers have a very good understanding of the product.

If you are managing your website on your own, you will require a fair amount of knowledge regarding your online platform. I would recommend it to people   to learn their way around new online technology based systems. This knowledge would serve your business for years to come.
