Why would you stay in South Africa?

Every time I must write an article about what makes it worthwhile to stay in South Africa it gives me an opportunity to sit and really think about the wonderful things that our rainbow nation offers. Even though our mainstream media is filled with news about increasing crime, corruption and farm murders there is still so much to be grateful for.

For 11-year old Kiara Greyling, braai, potjiekos, wildlife and campsites are top of the list of the nice things that make South Africa a truly loved home for her.

The “Big 5” is still our number one national attraction and we should never take these majestic animals for granted. Viewing them in their natural habitat is the reason thousands of tourists travel here every year

Campsites in South Africa provide some of the best destinations for family holidays. Before you know it, you have made friends-for-life at your campsite … and food, culture and friendliness are among the first topics that came up when we asked a group of teenagers why they would stay in South Africa.

We asked Garth Tune, former national swimmer, why he is staying. He says that there is no other country in the world that has the cuisine and quality of food that South Africa has.

When South Africans celebrate you can be assured that there will be laughing, singing, dancing and eating the best and most varied food. South Africans can create a fun vibe no matter how limited their resources are and regardless if it takes place the under the African sun or starry sky.

The character and culture of South Africans cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
