Digital Vibes – Vibes you can trust!

In the last edition we discussed broadly the possibilities and some limited options for your Digital Marketing plan. We continue with this topic in this edition as we ran out of editorial breath with much left to say.

Selecting a medium is on the plate today.

We know what digital marketing is and used some examples to explain the effectiveness of adopting a strategy.

Your website is the middle of the digital marketing universe. Alone, it is a very powerful channel, but it’s also the medium needed to execute a variety of online marketing campaigns. A website should represent a brand, product, and service in a clear and memorable way. Containing as much detail as possible about your product or service. It should be fast, mobile-friendly, and easy to use. Potential clients may hear about your product or service from one of the other mediums but will visit your page hungry for information.

Know that your website is vitally important and is the soul of any campaign and your main medium for a digital marketing campaign. So, depending on your target audience you need to select mediums to spread the gospel to the masses (your target market out there). This will be a hit and miss exercise at first and you will have to attempt a few campaigns on different mediums – only by persisting will you prevail and make the breakthroughs you crave.

Pay-Per-Click

Social networks might appear to be free of charge but we all would notice the promoted sign next to a post. Shockingly, the creators of our beloved socials had getting stinking rich on their mind. It happens in all digital platforms, even the GPS application on my mobile has very targeted adds for me, apparently, I need to know exactly where every fried chicken place is…

Clients of pay per click platforms sign up to distribute or promote posts to a certain demographic or interest group based on likes and follows on the profiles of individuals. It’s Genius – no wastage, only targeted adds. It can be pricey but worth every cent spent if done correctly. All our favourite social media, search engines, applications (Apps) and online platforms like magazines and news agencies, have pay per click services.

Content Marketing Tools

Content-marketing aims to reach potential customers – by using different forms of content published on our heartbeat (website) and promoted through other digital platforms (mentioned herein). Content-marketing tools include blogs, eBooks, online courses, infographics, podcasts, and webinars. It presents information in a consumable way that doesn’t feel like hard work and is easier to digest and remember.

Digital Marketing

Email Marketing

Sounds like spam but is probably not, mark it as safe and continue reading. Gets annoying after some time but often the best information lands up right in your inbox. Sometimes I feel myself waiting for certain emails that I signed up for to make decisions. Example. I buy meat from a certain retail chain, they send me weekly emails containing specail offerings. My decision on what my family eats for an entire month depends on that email. Powerfull stuff right. Still one of the best mediums to reach new clients and maintain existing ones.

Social Media Marketing

We all know this one, it is our favourite from the previous article. Certainly on its way to replace our emails as the main contact point for brands as stated on my twitter feed in the last few months. For example, each week a grocery store presents its carousel of images of what’s on offer over the coming weekend. It is the same as email marketing but can’t be ignored (I know this because I was watching rugby videos when I saw it!) Also Twitter seems to be the preferred and petty way to communicate with banks, airlines, service providers and everything people want to name and shame for bad service delivery in front of entire human populations. Highly entertaining and effective

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is one of the oldest forms of marketing, and the Internet has brought new life to this old standby. With affiliate marketing, influencers promote other people’s products and get a commission every time a sale is made, or a lead is introduced. Companies like Amazon have affiliate programs that pay out millions of dollars per month to websites that sell their products. I think this is still very effective and can be used by anyone, think of your suppliers. There are several mutually beneficial reasons to advertise together. Sometimes your customers are the same people and having the extra reach can only help. Feature on each other’s newsletters or have back links on websites or Facebook (can be even just their funny cat video link).

Video Marketing

YouTube has become the second most popular search engine and a lot of users are turning to YouTube before they make a buying decision, to learn something, read a review, or just to relax. There are several video marketing platforms, including Facebook Videos, Instagram, or even TikTok to use to run a video marketing campaign. Companies find the most success with video by integrating it with SEO, content marketing, and broader social media marketing campaigns. It is highly effective, especially attracting new client by way of instructional videos or reviews. We all have watched the un-boxing of a phone or DIY video of some sorts.

SMS Messaging

Still valid but I feel it is becoming a dead horse. I don’t read SMS messages anymore because it is obviously spam in my head. Too many funeral covers and insurance quotes or some airtime deal. I’m sure it works because I keep getting the messages….. Surely there is some market segment that benefits from the information they receive on SMS, could be just to link clients back to online sites.
