Telling stories of hope

I was born in KwaMashu township in Kwazulu-Natal as Mqondisi Ngubane, or “MQ.” I was named by my grandmother who envisioned me as a “Mqondisi,” an isiXhosa word meaning “director”. This turned out to be prophetic – my name heralded my future – it was as if it was known from my birth that my destiny was to become a director.

Mi Journey

Life’s journey begins in a safe harbor. We are still at home and dependent on our parents who take care of us. As we grow up, we leave the safe harbor and venture out into the ocean to begin with, we remain nearby the shore. Then we carefully venture offshore and study or start work. We get married and raise children. During our journey we are faced with storms – some more severe than others. by Pieter van Rensburg

I believe that a woman can do anything she puts her mind to. The world of a man is less complicated and more practical when it comes to aesthetics. It definitely helped me to be more independent.”
