The Importance of Female Leadership
There are diverse skills women bring to a business table when allowed to be part of the leadership structure – a different perspective and impartiality when faced with matters concerning employment, partnerships and making final decisions. My personal observation is that they are often also well-grounded and driven.
Gender diversity can:
- Help achieve better financial outcomes. In such a diverse workplace there will be a range of perspectives and women often add a greater sense of awareness due to their ability to observe on what is going on beneath the surface. Humility is fundamentally a feminine trait and is also one that is essential to being a great leader!
- Enhance teamwork. Women on a team who are given equal authority in making deals can stimulate creativity by ensuring everyone has their say in generating ideas. By making agreements which allow emotions to enter the picture – empathy, passion, etc. – being cognoscente of more than purely professional points of view, team leaders will be able to pick up on signals that someone on board needs help and can then respond with a plan of action. The feminine trait of being sensitive to the feelings of others and willing to stand in for others leads to more projects being finished effectively and successfully.
- Introduce an “in-control” approach. With their fine sense for detail, implementing systems and thinking that is “out of the box”, women consistency moves forward and do not give up easily. I call it the “get up, dress up and be productive ladies’ approach “meaning, not only do women contribute great ideas but also the ability to complete tasks successfully. Their awareness of knowing it “is all about the team” and not just about themselves.

So, if you thought the reason why women are stepping up and moving in to more management positions is about having a pretty face, think again! It is much more than that. Women go out of their way to acknowledge hard work and give recognition to team members.
