# I’m Staying – April 2021

As a South African it sometimes becomes easier to just look at all the bad things instead of focusing on the positive. The last couple of years have been challenging for all South Africans and things like load shedding and the terrible roads we must drive on daily does not make being positive any easier.

A small survival technique I have learned is to always try and see a silver lining. For example, load shedding can be a blessing in disguise forcing us to spend more time with our families or making us do the things we have been putting off, because it is definitely a lot more fun being on your phone or watching a series. I have noticed that when load shedding starts, I tend to fold the laundry that needed to be put away days ago or I sweep the floor that has been collecting dust for a week. Grocery shopping also seems like a lot less of an effort when nothing is tempting you to stay home and even though the roads are not in a great condition the potholes definitely make the trip more interesting.

Us South Africans do have a way of dealing with difficult circumstances. It is one of the reasons people tend to come back to SA.

Our strong communities and cultural diversity are on the list of reasons people want to visit SA along with the amazing weather, wildlife, stunning national parks showcasing the variety of biomes and our traditional foods are always a great tourist attraction.

South Africans are also the origin of greatness Mark Shuttleworth is a South African Entrepreneur who was the first South African to fly to space, Elon Musk the richest man in the world was born in Pretoria. Therefore, I am proud to say that I am a South African and why I am proud to say that #I’m staying.
