From driveway to design hotel<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI just wanted to try,\u201d Lucy says matter-of-factly. \u201cYou don\u2019t know if something will work unless you do it.\u201d That early curiosity turned into a string of pop-ups – first in the reception of BlackBrick Foreshore, and later at a kids\u2019 entrepreneur market where she outsold her competition with pure enthusiasm. \u201cI shouted for hours,\u201d she laughs. \u201cPeople bought from me first because they could hear me!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Today, Lucy\u2019s<\/em> Juice Bar<\/em> will open its doors every morning from 07h00 to 12h00, serving fresh orange juice and six smoothie flavours – think mango, berry, coconut and a few secret experiments still in development. \u201cWe\u2019re doing tastings all the time,\u201d she says proudly. \u201cThe recipe is mine, but I\u2019ve got a team who help me because I have to go to school.\u201d Diego, culinary partner and Kim, visiting entrepreneur in residence, work closely with her fine-tuning the formulas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n What makes a good entrepreneur?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n When asked that, Lucy doesn\u2019t hesitate. \u201cCourage, faith, and determination,\u201d she says. \u201cAnd if you make money, help a friend first – then you can save for something fun.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Her dad calls that her \u201clife philosophy in a juice cup.\u201d \u201cLucy reminds me why we built BlackBrick in the first place,\u201d says Jonathan. \u201cIt\u2019s about purpose, community and believing you can make something that matters – no matter your age.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Love is the secret ingredient<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n So, what makes her orange juice so special? \u201cIt\u2019s not the ingredients,\u201d she says seriously. \u201cIt\u2019s the love that you put into it.\u201d Guests at BlackBrick Gardens will get a complimentary mini juice on arrival – a bright, happy welcome that Lucy hopes \u201cmakes people thankful for life.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Lucy may be young, but her perspective is pure old soul. She believes people and juice can change moods. \u201cA great way to start your day is with some hope,\u201d she says, quoting one of the cards she\u2019s creating to give out with her juices – \u2018Every day may not be good, but there\u2019s something good in every day<\/em>.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n Her favourite thing about being part of BlackBrick? \u201cI just love coming here. Everyone\u2019s smiling. I get to be part of something good and I get to spend extra time with my dad.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n She\u2019s already dreaming of expanding Lucy\u2019s <\/em>to other BlackBrick locations. \u201cIf Dad goes to another country to build a hotel, he has to take me,\u201d she insists. \u201cOtherwise, he can\u2019t go!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n A legacy, freshly squeezed<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n For Jonathan, Lucy\u2019s<\/em> represents something much bigger than juice. \u201cIt\u2019s seeing that spark – that moment where an idea turns into action,\u201d he says. \u201cThat\u2019s entrepreneurship in its purest form.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Lucy agrees, though she puts it in simpler terms. \u201cI want to follow in my dad\u2019s footsteps,\u201d she says. \u201cHe builds places to make people happy.
